Clean Ndomche Summary Theme

June 9, 2008

Martin Kaba of Kabatology released a new WordPress theme that looks very clean and neat. It is called Ndomche Summary Theme and I’d love to know whether this word has actually any meaning. Martin left a comment on my Silk Theme post and alerted me to his new release. So I went to have a look and liked what I saw. As many of you already know, I really like clean WordPress themes. They are so light and carry no baggage, which also makes them fast loading I guess. Plus, a white theme is so easy to make your own. It’s like a blank canvas for a painter. The Ndomche Summary Theme is built on WordPress 2.5. This means that you are advised to upgrade before using this theme if you haven’t already done so. It is a grid based CSS styling theme that will also show your Gravatars without having to do any customizations. Martin has released the theme under the GNU/GPL license and asks that you leave the footer link intact. The Ndomche Summary Theme has a massive banner in the left hand side bar which could ideally be used to market an affiliate product. I’m thinking niche marketing with a special product here. Get Your Posts To Glitter With Flickr

June 2, 2008

We bloggers love to add images to our posts as often as possible. The reason being is a common one - a picture is worth a thousand words. I hope you remember my last post, where I introduced to you some cool extensions including Picnik, which happens to be a great extension to handle images on Firefox. Talking about image hosting, Flickr is one of the most widely used web-based imaging service. Now, you may upload a lot of images at your Flickr account and get your blog posts to display them, wherever and whenever needed. I know this would have been been a dream, until this cool plugin was launched. Yes, I am talking about the Flickr plugin for wordpress. This Flickr plugin for WordPress allows you to display your Flickr photosets as albums on your WordPress blog. The template is pretty simple and intuitive and totally customizable to match the look and feel of your blog. If desired, you can also hook it up with Lightbox or similar display libraries like - Facebox, FancyZoom and Fancybox. For the user interface, this plugin adds a new Flickr icon to the WordPress editor allowing you to easily insert your Flickr photos into your blog posts with just a couple of clicks! You also have an option to either link inserted photos to your WordPress Flickr photo album or directly to your Flickr.com photo page. Read more

Are You Familiar with HTML and CSS? Six Reasons Why You Should Invest the Time to Learn

May 15, 2008

I had been involved with web design for a few years before I ever started blogging. In my opinion, being able to work with the code of a blog is a huge advantage that many bloggers choose not to pursue. learn html and css Aside form the design aspect of creating an attractive blog, being able to work with the coding will allow you to make changes and adjustments to your blog any time you want, rather than relying on a professional to do it for you, or rather than just limiting yourself to what’s available with the theme you have chosen. Most blogs need a bit of customization from time-to-time, and for someone who has no experience with HTML or CSS this be a bit intimidating. However, if you’re working with WordPress you really only need a basic knowledge in order to make many of the customizations that you would like, and you don’t even need to know PHP in most cases (those who aren’t comfortable with PHP just need to be able to recognize it and avoid it when making changes to the HTML).
