NoPattern “Jumper” Effect

One of the coolest digital artists around is Chuck Anderson, a.k.a. NoPattern. After seeing a recent PSDTUTS reader request, I decided to show you how to create a light effect similar to NoPattern’s Jumper Poster. At the end I’ll show you how a technique like this can be used in a variety of different ways to make stunning images…

Step 1

Create a new document sized to 600px x 800px. Unlock the background layer and fill it with a dark blue color (#091417).

PicApp: A Free Source For Editorial Photographs

If you are looking for photo’s for your blog to bring your stories to life and want to ensure that you have the rights to use them, you might be interested in exploring the new free service offered by PicApp.You can register for an account and then search their data base. The photos are displayed in a flash media file and can be embedded on any web page, just like you do with video’s for example from YouTube. According to a report at Gigaom, PicApp has advertising embedded in the photos and has a revenue share with the photos agencies. It’s not going to be relevant for some of us who take the approach that we don’t have advertising on our business blogs and I know there are many people who prefer not to have flash on their websites or blogs. However if you are looking for photographs that you can use on your blog if covering a news event it is a site worth exploring. Read more

Creating conceptual work can be fun and relies heavily on your imagination. In this tutorial I’ll show you how to combine stock photographs to create a stunning effect that can be easily reproduced to work with almost any combination of images.

What we’re going to be creating

The outcome to this tutorial depends heavily on what you want to create and whats going on in your head. I collected two stock images that I thought would work together before I begun from sxc.hu.
